Gnistan striker Adeleke Akinyemi is the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month for July

The players selected Gnistan's Adeleke Akinyemi as the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month for July.

Adeleke Akinyemi enjoyed an impressive July both individually and as part of Gnistan’s strong form. The Nigerian striker brought pace and a constant goal threat to Gnistan’s attack, proving decisive in the final third with 4 goals in July. Combining speed, strength and intelligent movement, he is capable of both finishing chances and creating opportunities for his teammates. His performances in July highlighted the qualities that have made him one of the league’s standout forwards and a crucial player for Gnistan.

Born in Lagos in 1998, Akinyemi has built an extensive international career, playing in Norway, Latvia, Albania, the Czech Republic and now Finland. The powerful centre-forward has consistently demonstrated his goalscoring ability across different leagues and competitions while developing a reputation as a hardworking and physically strong attacker. 

In all the top Finnish leagues - Veikkausliiga, Kansallinen Liiga, Ykkösliiga, Kansallinen Ykkönen and Ykkönen - the players vote at the end of each month for the league’s Player of the Month. Players are not allowed to vote for someone from their own team. The player who receives the most votes during the month is selected as the Player of the Month.
