Ilves midfielder Jardell Kanga is the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month for June

The players selected Ilves' Jardell Kanga as the Veikkausliiga Player of the Month for June.

Kanga enjoyed an impressive June individually. The Swedish attacking midfielder brought creativity, technical quality and attacking flair to Ilves’ offensive play, consistently creating chances and driving the team forward in the final third. His performances throughout the month highlighted why he has quickly become an important player for one of the league’s top teams. Primarily an attacking midfielder but also capable of playing on either wing, Kanga combines technical ability, vision and creativity with a strong work ethic.

Born in Stockholm in 2005, Kanga has already built an impressive résumé despite his young age. He came through the renowned Brommapojkarna academy before joining Bayer Leverkusen’s youth system, where he developed into one of Sweden’s most promising attacking talents. After spells in Germany and with Hammarby, he moved to Ilves and has continued his development in the Finnish top flight. His performances have also earned him recognition at international level, including appearances for Sweden’s U21 national team.

In all the top Finnish leagues - Veikkausliiga, Kansallinen Liiga, Ykkösliiga, Kansallinen Ykkönen and Ykkönen - the players vote at the end of each month for the league’s Player of the Month. Players are not allowed to vote for someone from their own team. The player who receives the most votes during the month is selected as Player of the Month.
