Ykkösliiga players selected Jippo's Yoshiaki Kikuchi as the Ykkösliiga Player of the Month for October.

"I am truly delighted to receive this award. First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to everyone in Joensuu who supported our team throughout the year. Unfortunately, our team was unable to achieve the results we had hoped for this year, but it was a year in which we were able to push each other to improve and grow together.
I would like to once again thank the sponsors and supporters, including the players' association. I wish the league continued success and all the teams the best of luck in the future!"

Born in Japan in 1995, Kikuchi is an experienced midfielder who has become an important figure at Jippo since joining the club in 2023. The 2026 season was his fourth with the Joensuu-based side, having previously represented Gnistan as well as clubs in Portugal. Kikuchi started 27 Ykkösliiga matches in 2026 and finished the league season with five goals and five assists.
In all the top Finnish leagues - Veikkausliiga, Kansallinen Liiga, Ykkösliiga, Kansallinen Ykkönen and Ykkönen - the players vote at the end of each month for the league’s Player of the Month. Players are not allowed to vote for someone from their own team. The player who receives the most votes during the month is selected as the Player of the Month.
